SMU Football To Honor Dallas-Area First-Responders

DALLAS (SMU) - SMU Football will honor Dallas-area first-responders at its nationally-televised Friday game against TCU, and will be wearing a specially-created Mustang helmet decal that features the Dallas skyline to show its support for the groups.

As a show of appreciation for their service to the Dallas community, SMU is offering up to four complimentary tickets to police, firefighters and paramedics.

Dallas Police Chief David Brown is scheduled to be in attendance and handle the coin toss.

"This will be a big game for us as we honor our local first-responders and pay tribute to them," said Head Coach Chad Morris. "It's an opportunity for us and our great city of Dallas to come together and lock arms and pay tribute to the lives that left us way too soon."

There will be a moment of silence prior to the game for slain Dallas Police officers Lorne Ahrens, Michael Krol, Michael Smith and Patrick Zamarripa, DART Officer Brent Thompson, SMU Officer Mark McCullers and University Park Fire Department Chief Bob Poynter.

Police, firefighters and paramedics can claim the tickets at the main ticket office by showing his/her badge or other official identification.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
