ARLINGTON, Texas (SMU) – The SMU women's track and field team continues to improve as the Mustangs doubled their win total from a week ago winning four events Saturday at the 38th Bobby Lane Invitational.
For the second straight week,
Holly Archer and
Hannah Miller claimed individual titles winning the 800 and 1,500 meters, respectively. Senior
Shanoah Souza won the 3,000-meter steeplechase and the Mustangs 4x400-meter relay picked up the win in the last event of the meet.
Archer paced the field in the 800m and ran a season-best time of 2 minutes, 9.26 seconds, while Miller ran away from the group in her first collegiate 1,500m with a time of 4:31.32. Classmate

Anneke Grogan and
Alison Esparza placed fifth (11:23.94) and sixth (11:36.01), respectively.
The Mustangs quartet of Archer,

After an hour delay and having to switch throwing pits midway through warmups, two Mustangs still managed to finish in the top-10 in the shot put.
Jacquetta Cannon placed third with a mark of 48 feet, 8.75 inches (14.85m) and
Daniella Murchison finished eighth with a toss of 44-10.75 (13.68m).

The junior improved her hurdle time for the second straight week with a time of 14.89 to finish 13th. Novosadova was unable to continue in the high jump after a leap of 5-01 (1.55m) due to having to run the hurdles.
In the sprints, two Mustangs placed in the top-10 in the 100-meter dash with Johnson finishing sixth (11.72) and Francis placing ninth (11.79). Francis also finished ninth in the 200-meter dash with a personal-best time of 24.65. Simmons came in seventh in her first collegiate 400-meter hurdles competition with a time of 1:02.85.
The Mustangs will send athletes to three different meets next week. SMU will compete in the 90th Nike Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays (March 30-April 1), Stanford Invitational and the Bobcat Invitational (March 31-April 1).
