Bobcat Invitational Results – Day 2 (PDF)
SAN MARCOS, Texas (SMU) – The SMU women's track and field team wrapped up day two of the Bobcat Invitational Friday with three Mustangs recording personal best marks.
In the heptathlon,
Anna Novosadova finished third overall with a personal best 4,511 points. The junior finished second in the long jump leaping 17 feet, 5.25 inches (5.31m) for 645 points. She then placed 11th in the javelin throw with a mark of 57-10 for 245 points. However, Novosadova finished the seven event discipline winning the 800-meters in a personal record time of 2 minutes, 25.49 seconds, which accounted for 750 points.
The SMU sprinters showed improvement in just the third outdoor meet of the season. Freshman
Chelsea Francis and sophomore
Latessa Johnson led the way in the 100-meter dash finishing third and fifth, respectively. Francis ran a season best 11.42, while Johnson was not too far behind with a time of 11.49. There was a tailwind of 4.0 meters per second in both Francis and Johnson's heat. Freshman
Alexis Center finished 15th with a time of 11.89, but her heat had a tailwind of 3.4 meters per second.
Freshman
India Simmons improved her 400-meter hurdles time with a runner-up performance of 1:00.73. Sophomore
Madison Pyle time of 1:05.57 was good for 12th.
SMU continues action at the Bobcat Invitational Saturday with events scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. CT.
