Follow The Mustangs In The NBA Summer League

Ojeleye with the Celtics, Brown with the Bucks, Moore with the Pacers and Kennedy with the Pistons

DALLAS (SMU/NBA) --- Four Mustangs will play with NBA teams for the 2017 NBA Summer League. Semi Ojeleye was selected 37th overall by the Boston Celtics in the 2017 NBA Draft and fellow draft pick Sterling Brown will play for the Milwaukee Bucks after being picked 46th overall. Ben Moore signed with the Indiana Pacers and Markus Kennedy will play with the Detroit Pistons. The Pacers and Pistons will play in Orlando (July 1-6) while the Celtics will be in Utah (July 3-6) and Las Vegas (July 7-17).

Ojeleye was selected by the Boston Celtics in the 2017 NBA Draft (2nd round, 37th overall). In 2016-17, he was named American Athletic Conference Player of the Year and Associated Press All-America Honorable Mention. He was also named AAC All-Tournament Most Outstanding Player, All-AAC First Team, USBWA All-District VII and NABC All-District 25 First Team. Ojeleye averaged 19.0 points (3rd AAC) and 6.9 rebounds (11th AAC) while shooting 48.7 percent (8th AAC) overall and 42.4 percent from 3-point range (3rd AAC). The American Scholar-Athlete of the Year and CoSIDA Academic All-America Second Team honoree graduated in May with a bachelor's degree in psychology.

Brown was selected in the second round of the 2017 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers (46th overall) before being traded to the Milwaukee Bucks. As a senior at SMU, he was named an NABC Division I College All-Star, All-American Athletic Conference Second Team and AAC All-Tournament after averaging 13.4 points (13th AAC), 6.5 rebounds (16th AAC), 3.0 assists (14th AAC) and 1.4 steals (7th AAC). He led The American in 3-point percentage for the second straight season (44.9) and was eighth in free throw percentage (79.1). He played in a program-record 109 victories during his SMU career and finished second in career 3-point shooting at 45.1 percent. He also ranked among career leaders in points (1,110, 31st), rebounds (653, 15th), assists (294, 15th), steals (139, 9th), blocks (51, T-23rd), field goal percentage (50.4, 14th) and threes made (128, 11th). He graduated in May with a bachelor's degree in sports management and a minor in sociology.

Moore signed as a free agent with the Indiana Pacers. As a senior in 2016-17, he was named an NABC Division I College All-Star, All-American Athletic Conference Second Team and AAC All-Tournament this season. In his final year on the Hilltop, he averaged 11.4 points (24th AAC), 7.8 rebounds (5th AAC), 2.4 assists and 1.1 blocks (12th AAC), while shooting 56.0 percent from the field (2nd AAC). The Bolingbrook, Illinois, native started all 35 games, recording double-digit points in 24-of-35 contests, and five or more rebounds in 28-of-35 games. He recorded eight double-doubles this season. Moore finished his career with 1,214 points (25th at SMU), 780 rebounds (9th), 125 blocked shots (8th), 242 assists and 102 steals (T-23rd). He graduated in May with a bachelor's degree in English. 

Kennedy was signed by the Detroit Pistons following a season with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (Houston Rockets G-League team). While at SMU from 2013-16, he was named the two-time American Athletic Conference Sixth Man of the Year (2014-15, 2015-16). He was also a two-time selection to the All-AAC Second Team and the NABC All-District Second Team. In 2014-15, Kennedy helped the Mustangs win the AAC regular season and tournament titles en route to the NCAA Tournament, earning the AAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player award. He scored 1,003 points in his SMU career, finishing ranked eighth in blocked shots (97), eighth in blocks per game (1.1), ninth in field goal percentage (53.1), 16th in steals per game (1.2), 20th in steals (110) and 21st in rebounds (588). In his final season at SMU, he averaged 9.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.2 blocks.
