Mustangs To Host 18 Games; Play Home-and-home sets with seven including Cincinnati, Houston, UCF, USF and Wichita State

Complete Schedule: http://smumustangs.com/schedule.aspx?schedule=206

DALLAS (SMU) – SMU men's basketball, the reigning American Athletic Conference champions, announced its schedule on Thursday. The Mustangs open the season at home Nov. 10 versus UMBC and begin conference play against UCF in Moody Coliseum on Dec. 27.

The non-conference schedule is highlighted by the Battle 4 Atlantis in the Bahamas (Nov. 22-24), home games with USC (Dec. 2) and Boise State (Dec. 18), and a road matchup at TCU (Dec. 5). The Mustangs open the Battle 4 Atlantis with Northern Iowa in a field that also includes Arizona, North Carolina State, Villanova, Tennessee, Purdue and Western Kentucky. The season begins with four games at Moody Coliseum in the first nine days: UMBC (Nov. 10), ULM (Nov. 12), Northwestern State (Nov. 15) and UAPB (Nov. 18).

The 18-game league schedule includes home-and-home sets with Cincinnati, East Carolina, Houston, Tulane, UCF, USF and Wichita State. The Mustangs also host Memphis and Temple, while only facing Connecticut and Tulsa on the road. The American Men's Basketball Championship is March 8-11 (Thursday-Sunday) at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida.

Head Coach Tim Jankovich enters his second season leading the Mustangs, after SMU finished No. 11 in the Associated Press Poll, sweeping the American Athletic Conference season and tournament championships en route to an NCAA Tournament berth. The Mustangs won a program-record 30 games (30-5) that included going 17-1 in conference play and 18-0 in Moody Coliseum. SMU has won 22 straight at home overall, which is the fourth-longest active streak nationally. The Mustangs had two of the longest winning streaks in program history at 16 games (third) and 10 games (tied fourth) in a stretch that saw 26 victories in 27 outings. It was the second AAC season and tournament sweep by the Mustangs in the three seasons.

SMU returns three of its six-man rotation from last season including All-AAC selection Shake Milton, starter Jarrey Foster and AAC Sixth Man of the Year Ben Emelogu II. Jimmy Whitt joins the rotation after sitting out last season as a transfer along with returnee James Pyle. Newcomers Akoy Agau, Everett Ray, Elijah Landrum, Ethan Chargois, William Douglas, Jahmal McMurray and Luke Wilfong round out the 2017-18 roster. Isiaha Mike will sit out the season after transferring from Duquesne.

The Mustangs' schedule includes at least 24 games on the ESPN family of networks and WatchESPN, and four matchups on CBS Sports Network. At least six regular season AAC games are slated for ESPN or ESPN2.
