PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AAC/SMU) – Lauren Mills was named American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the second time in three weeks, league officials announced Monday. The senior led SMU to conference wins over Tulane and Houston in the first week of league matches.

Mills scored a league-best 34 kills in the two matches, averaging 4.86 per set. She finished with 23 in a 3-1 win against Tulane, and added 11 in a sweep of Houston. With 12 digs on Friday and 14 on Sunday, Mills increased her league-leading double-double count to nine in 13 matches this season.

Overall, the Keller, Texas, native leads the team and ranks fourth in the conference with 3.74 kills per set, and is 12th in the league in digs, averaging 3.46. Mills also was named Offensive Player of the Week Sept. 11 after leading SMU to the Texas State tournament championship with three wins in San Marcos, Texas.

SMU is one of three teams to start conference play with two wins. The Mustangs play at East Carolina Friday and at Cincinnati Sunday.
