Annual Fund

  • Mustang Athletic Fund: Support each of our 484 student-athletes with a gift to our annual fund. Donations to the Mustang Athletic Fund cover operational expenses of the SMU Athletic Department with a wide-ranging impact on all 17 sports. Gifts made for the purpose of purchasing season tickets are made to this fund. As the largest fund within our family of giving options, gifts to this fund impact the areas of greatest need within our programs.

Operating Funds

  • Mustang Excellence Funds (Sport-Specific Giving): While Mustang Club donations directly impact the success of our student-athletes and enhance program operations for each of our 17 teams, there is also an opportunity to donate directly to a specific program through each sport’s Mustang Excellence Fund. The Excellence Funds benefit or enhance the specific program’s greatest need for that particular year. 
  • Student-Athlete Benefit Fund: Gifts to the Student-Athlete Benefit Fund will be directed toward helping SMU remain competitive in recruiting and retaining student-athletes.
  • ACC Competitiveness Campaign Fund: Gifts to the ACC Competitiveness Campaign provide enhanced support for our student-athletes and coaches – and ensure we can effectively recruit, retain, train, teach and compete for championships in the ACC.
  • Life After Ball Fund: The Life After Ball (LAB) program’s core mission is to develop the necessary professional and life skills to assist each student-athlete’s transition from college student-athlete to the professional world. Three themes are central to the LAB mission: Connections, Exposure, and Preparation. LAB aims to utilize the powerful network of alumni that SMU has in the DFW area and beyond to carry out the operation of these themes.
  • Mustang Excellence Fund for Gameday Experience: Donations directly support the SMU Athletic Marketing department to enhance the student, fan and donor experience. 
 


Endowments and Planned Giving

  • The SMU Athletics Department is grateful for the over 40 endowments that have been established by generous donors impacting everything from research, to scholarships to coaching positions.
