WACO, TEXAS (SMU) – The SMU equestrian team contributed 23 honorees to the 2022 NCEA All-Academic Teams and Academic Honor Roll, the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) announced Friday.

The Mustangs included on the NCEA All-Academic First Team are
Lily Anderson,
Madigan Eppink,
Payton Neiberger,
Alex Pielet,
Miranda Seade, and
Megan Waldron.
Emma Jolly,
Taylor Madden,
Devin Seek, and
Mallory Vroegh were all given second-team distinction.
Chalyce Head,
Madi Johnson,
Nya Kearns,
Katy Merchant, and
Jill Pfisthner were named to the Honorable Mention team.

SMU added eight names to the academic honor roll:
Hana Bieling,
Faith Davis,
Katherine Delagarza,
Rebecca Figueroa,
Becky Morris,
Katie Shepherd,
Macie Soderquist, and
Olivia Woodson.

Eppink, Waldron, Seek, and Vroegh have all earned all-academic recognition for three consecutive years. Pfisthner's honorable mention award marks the fourth-consecutive all-academic mark of her SMU career.

To earn a first-team designation, riders must have competed in a minimum of 70 percent of their school's meets, not including demo or exhibition rides, and must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 while maintaining full-time enrollment in the previous spring and fall semesters, respectively. Second team honors requires competing in a minimum of 60 percent of meets, while maintaining a cumulative 3.25 GPA full-time enrolled through the previous spring and fall semesters. Honorable mention requires the rider having competed in 50 percent of meets while maintaining at least a 3.0. Those who earned NCEA Academic Honor Roll recognition are the top student athletes who have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.25 while maintaining full-time enrollment the previous two semesters.
