DALLAS (SMU) – SMU's 2023-24 women's tennis slate was announced on Monday by head coach Jeff Nevolo.
The reigning American Athletic Conference champions open the spring portion of their slate with matches at Duke and NC State (Jan. 13. & 15). SMU's first match on the Hilltop — at the Styslinger / Altec Tennis Complex — against Vanderbilt on Jan. 21.
Last season, SMU won the American Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Championship as the No. 1 seed. Nevolo was also awarded the AAC Coach of the Year.
Following last season, SMU was ranked the No. 5 program in the state. Texas A&M, Texas, Baylor and Texas Tech were ranked No. 1 through No. 4, respectively.
SMU returns 2022-23 AAC Player of the Year, Hadley Doyle, and Taylor Johnson, 2023 AAC Championships' Most Outstanding Performer, as well as Maja Makoric, Lana Mavor, Drew Morris and Reka Patel.
The Mustangs have also added two newcomers to their roster — freshmen Millie Skelton and Caroline McGinley.
SMU faces American Athletic Conference opponents Charlotte, USF, Tulsa and Memphis prior to hosting the AAC Championship
First serve and live streaming information will be announced at a later date. Team rankings will be released by the ITA on Jan. 3.
