Carlson, Rogers Bring In ACC Weekly Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (ACC/SMU) – SMU Volleyball players Averi Carlson and Kennedi Rogers were named Setter and Freshman of the Week by the Atlantic Coast Conference office on Monday afternoon, respectively. The program has won 13 ACC weekly awards this season, the most by any team in the league.  

Carlson has earned an ACC-record seven league setter of the week honors this season. Rogers collected the first conference weekly award of her career.   

Carlson led the ACC and was second in the nation, averaging 13.00 assists per set in the Mustangs' wins over Florida State and NC State last week. Her season total of 117 assists ranks first in the ACC and third in the country. The senior dished out a career-high 62 assists against the Wolfpack in the regular season finale, along with eight digs and three aces. On Wednesday against the Seminoles, Carlson recorded 55 assists and 11 digs, her 10th double-double of the year.   

Freshman outside Kennedi Rogers totaled 40 kills, averaging 4.44 kills per set this week in wins over Florida State and NC State. She notched her second career double-double against the Wolfpack with a career-high 21 kills and 10 digs. In the first match of the week, Rogers tallied 19 kills, hitting .381, against the Seminoles.   

No. 7 SMU will host Central Arkansas in its first-round match of the NCAA Tournament on Friday, Dec. 5, at 6:30 p.m. CT.
