EVENT RESULTS
OKLAHOMA CITY (SMU) -- The SMU rowing team earned the top spot in the Novice/Frosh 4+ event at the Head of the Oklahoma.
This year's Freshman 4 crew clocked in at 18:03.49 for a commanding victory in a field of 11 crews. The Mustangs' closest competition, Baylor, crossed the finish line in 18:13.92 to be named runner up.
The Mustangs had two more crews in the Novice/Frosh 4+ event that finished fourth and ninth out of 11 total crews.
SMU dominated the Open 1x competition, claiming five of the top10 finishes in the race. SMU claimed second clocking in at 19:04.44, fourth with 19:59.58, fifth with 20:02.07, sixth with 20:19.09 and seventh with 20:37.68. Three more SMU boats finished tied for 10th with a time of 22:50.99.
The Open 2x event saw SMU's
Savannah Moody secure a third-place finish clocking 17:15.90.
Alyssa Sands finished in fifth place posting an 18:05.44 final time and
Paige Papesch grabbed sixth place with 18:15.00.
Samantha Kurtz,
Emily MacAdam,
Hannah Dart and
Adelaide Moore claimed 8th in the 4+. Kurtz also participated in the Open 1x for the Mustangs.
SMU is back in action when they travel to the Head of the Brazos in Waco, Texas, on Oct. 8.
