DALLAS (SMU) -- Jeff Jordan, who has nearly 30 years of coaching experience at the high school level in Texas, will join the SMU football staff as the director of player personnel.

Jordan spent 28 seasons, including 15 as head coach, at Garland High School, leading the Owls to 13 playoff appearances and the 2006 State semifinals. In 1999, he served as Defensive Coordinator for the State Championship team. He left as Garland's winningest head coach in overall victories and playoff wins. From 2008-09, Garland won 83 games, the most in a decade in school history.

In 2008, Jordan was elected into the Garland Sports Hall of Fame, and, in 2001, he coached the North Squad in the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) All-Star Game. Jordan also serves as the co-director of the DFW Coaches Clinic, the largest high school-only clinic in the country.

Jordan comes to the Hilltop after two seasons as the director of personnel at Kansas, and also worked as an in-house scout for the Dallas Cowboys for 28 seasons where he was part of three Super Bowl Championship teams.

An All-State defensive lineman and captain, Jordan was named city player of the year in 1982 while at Amarillo High School. He walked-on at Texas A&M and was a member of the 1985 Southwest Conference Championship team.

Jordan received his bachelor's degree from Texas A&M in 1987 and master's degree from Lamar in 2009. Jordan and wife Shannon have two daughters, Abby and Carly.
