Full Schedule

DALLAS (SMU) – The four-time reigning conference champion SMU equestrian team released its 2022-23 schedule, the program announced on Friday.

The Mustangs open competition in Stillwater on Oct. 1 against NCEA national champion Oklahoma State. SMU defeated No. 1 OSU, 10-5, in their last meeting on Nov. 6 in Fresno.

SMU's 12-meet schedule includes five home contests at the Dallas Equestrian Center, with a Nov. 4 home opener against Baylor marking the start of a four-meet home stand.

The Mustangs close the fall portion of their schedule Nov. 10-12, hosting both UC Davis and Delaware State, with competition dates to be determined.

SMU's spring stretch opens with a Jan. 28 ECAC Tournament Championship rematch for the Mustangs against UT Martin in Dallas. SMU claimed wins in its last two meetings against the Skyhawks, including the March 26 victory which clinched the Mustangs' fourth-consecutive conference title.

A Feb. 23 contest at South Carolina marks the start of a three-meet SEC weekend, in which SMU travels to face USC, Georgia, and Auburn in consecutive days. The Mustangs will face the Gamecocks for the first time since Nov. 22, 2019, in which SMU won 11-9 in Dallas. The Mustangs' busy weekend is capped by a road match at Auburn on Feb. 25. SMU defeated two-seed Auburn in the NCEA quarterfinal round, 12-8, on Apr. 14.

The Mustangs close regular-season competition with a Senior Day home meet against Texas A&M on March 11, with NCEA Nationals beginning at the World Equestrian Center in Ocala, Fla. on Apr. 13.

SMU closed its 2021-22 season with an 11-7 record, including a 4-1 mark against ECAC opponents. The Mustangs concluded the previous season with their fourth-consecutive conference title and second-straight ECAC crown, along with a second-consecutive NCEA national semifinal appearance – the first time the Mustangs have posted back-to-back top-three national finishes in program history.
