SMU Athletics

A trademark licensing program gives the University control over its logos and marks, thus, ensuring the quality and consistency of all of the University's merchandise. It also enables the University to generate revenue from the sale of merchandise bearing its logos and marks.

SMU partners with CLC to ensure vendors are properly licensed. If you are a vendor looking for an SMU license, please visit the CLC website to apply. 

All branded products must be licensed through the CLC portal, including internal SMU departmental ordering and external retail.

Internal orders should be indicated within the comment section of an artwork submission through the CLC portal, along with the name of the department that placed the order. Artwork approval does not indicate order approval. If a vendor is not a preferred vendor, they will require approval through the CLC portal as well as an exception approval from the SMU Purchasing department. SMU's preferred vendors for internal ordering are listed here. An approved license does not indicate preferred vendor status.  

Most artwork submissions should be approved within 72 hours. Most license requests should be approved within one week.

Official SMU Athletic Logos

Visual identity plays an important role in shaping the image of the SMU Athletics Department. The logos and word marks should never be altered or animated.

Note: The Mustang logo must always run to the right. The preferred color for the pony is red (Pantone 186 C). It can also appear in white or occasionally in blue (Pantone 286 C). Use of non-brand colors requires special approval of SMU's Trademark Licensing Office.
