DALLAS (SMU) – Defending national champion SMU Equestrian has announced its schedule for the 2023-24 season.
"We are welcoming the largest incoming class of freshmen and transfers in program history and retaining the majority of our national championship lineup," head coach
Carol Gwin said. "I am excited to see what this new team can bring to the Hilltop. We have a very challenging schedule this season and it will certainly prepare us to qualify and compete at nationals well."
The Mustangs will open the season with a road test at TCU on September 22 before hosting three consecutive home meets. SMU welcomes Oklahoma State to Dallas for the home opener on October 14. Next, SMU hosts Texas A&M on October 26 before a rematch of the 2023 NCEA National Championship against Auburn on Nov. 11 in Dallas.
SMU closes out the fall with a road trip to California to compete against Fresno State on Nov. 17, and UC Davis on Nov. 18.
The Mustangs open the spring hosting back-to-back meets. SMU faces South Dakota State on Jan. 26, and Delaware State on Jan. 27. The Mustangs close out the home stand with a meet against Fresno State on Feb. 2.
From there, SMU will travel for three straight meets starting with a trip to Stillwater to face Oklahoma State on Feb. 17 followed by a meet at Texas A&M on Feb. 24, and Auburn on March 2.
The Mustangs return home for the regular season finale against TCU March 8 on senior day.
SMU will conclude the season by defending its national title at the NCEA National Championships in Ocala, Florida, on April 18-20.
