John Simmons was a defensive back at SMU from 1977-80. The 1980 All-American and All-SWC honoree finished his career as SMU's all-time leader with 17 interceptions, returning three for touchdowns. His seven picks in 1980 ranks second in a season in program history. Simmons was selected by the Bengals with the 64^th pick in the 1981 NFL Draft. He played for the Bengals, Packers and Colts from 1981-87.
