Internships
SMU Athletics hosts undergraduate interns throughout each school year. The internship opportunities below are a great way for SMU students to contribute to the Athletic Department, the SMU community, and gain valuable experience and knowledge in the sports industry. Internships can be available for course credit and are, generally, unpaid positions. DEPARTMENT INTERNSHIPS
The Creative Services Intern at SMU Athletics will assist in developing and executing creative media projects that contribute to SMU's brand image, engage fans, and promote athletic programs/events. Responsibilities include graphic design, content creation, and assisting with social media management. Candidates should demonstrate creativity, attention to detail, the ability to learn new software, and an interest in sports marketing/media.

SMU Athletics Development Interns will contribute to Athletics’ fundraising objectives by assisting in event execution, communications, research, and other assigned duties. Development Interns should demonstrate professional communication, a positive demeanor, attention to detail, and commitment to exceptional customer service.

SMU Athletics Equipment Interns support the operational efficiency of equipment distribution and management for SMU Athletics teams. Interns will gain experience in team operations and should display a positive attitude, attention to detail, and willingness to support SMU Athletics teams.

SMU Athletics Facilities Interns serve in a support role for preparations and game management of SMU sporting events as determined. Interns will assist in all areas dealing directly with Ford Stadium, Moody Coliseum, SMU Tennis Complex, Washburne Soccer and Track Stadium, and Pettus Practice Field.

SMU Athletics Hospitality Interns support the Hospitality team in managing premium spaces and suites during game days to ensure a positive experience for all ticket holders at SMU events. Interns should demonstrate excellent communication, customer service skills, and a positive attitude.

SMU Athletics Marketing & Fan Experience Interns will support the implementation and development of marketing strategies for enhancing fan engagement with SMU Athletics. Interns will gain practical experience with in-game and event promotion/activations and learn about strategies for fostering fan engagement. Interns should have a positive attitude, professionalism, and flexibility to assist at various athletics events.

SMU Athletics MustangVision interns will assist the SMU Athletics broadcasting unit in various aspects of video production and broadcasting surrounding Athletics events. Interns will gain valuable experience in live production, camera operation, editing, and more while contributing to the MustangVision team. Interns should be interested in pursuing a career in production or broadcasting.

SMU Athletics Nutrition Interns support SMU's Sports Nutrition unit in optimizing student-athletes' performance and well-being. This position is ideal for those interested in careers in dietetics, nutrition, coaching, or human performance. Interns will gain experience in meal planning and creating nutrition performance strategies for athletes and should display an eagerness to learn about sports nutrition.

SMU Athletics Public Relations Interns will support operations by assisting primary sport contacts in PR efforts and gameday responsibilities. Duties can include gameday coverage, statistics, game notes, game programs, press releases, records and social media updates as well as posting on SMUMustangs.com and the official SMU app.

Lead the Stampede! Student section leaders are responsible for leading the school with cheers, attending games, and boosting school morale. They should also be good models for other students. Student section leaders may also: Dress up with themes, learn chants, and encourage students to participate. Stampede Leaders are expected to work a minimum of three football games and fifteen men’s or women’s basketball games.

SMU Athletics Strength and Conditioning (S&C) interns will contribute to the Human Performance unit. This is an ideal position for those interested in careers in strength and conditioning, sport science, or coaching. Candidates should demonstrate attention to detail, a positive attitude, and interest in sport performance.

SMU Athletics Student photographer duties include attending and photographing campus events as requested; editing photos; and uploading photos to the appropriate storage drive in a timely manner (typically within 24-48 hours of the event).

SMU Athletics Ticket Operations Interns support efficient operations and processes in SMU's Ticket Office. Responsibilities include providing customer support, processing ticket orders, coordinating ticket distributions, assisting with game-day operations, and other duties as assigned. Interns should display great customer service skills and attention to detail.
