The SMU men's tennis team carded two first round individual wins at the T. Rowe Price National Clay Court Championships being held in Pikesville, Maryland.
Junior Genius Chidzikwe and sophomore Alexis Rudzinski started their 2000-01 campaigns off in fine fashion, winning first round matches. Chidzikwe defeated Jean-Julien Rojer of UCLA, 6-7, 6-2, 6-4, while Rudzinski downed Southern Miss's Daniel Homedes, 6-3, 7-6. Senior Jon Wallmark began the season with a tough 6-3, 7-6 loss against William Campos of Troy State.
Chidzikwe squeezed in a second round win to end the day, defeating Ontog of UT-Chatanooga, 6-1, 4-6, 6-3.
