SMU Women's Golf Inks Two Recruits

The SMU women's golf team and head coach Todd Selders announced Wednesday the signing of Laura Cross and Kristina Rothengatter to national letters-of-intent. The duo will join SMU starting the 2003-04 school year.

Cross, from Midlothian, Texas, is ranked No. 54 in the country by the National Junior Golf Scoreboard. Cross recently won the Texas Junior Golf Tour tournament with rounds of 73-70. She was the 2002 4A State runner-up. Her parents are Ben and Susan Cross.

Rothengatter, from Frankfurt, Germany, was the winner of the 2001 International Austrian Ladies Championship. Considered one of the best junior players in Germany, Rothengatter works with worldwide known PGA Instructor Hank Haney. Her parents are Berthold and Gisela.

"Both players bring a personality of commitment and competitiveness to the women's golf program," Selders said. "They are both very good additions for SMU and the Lady Mustangs golf team."
