SMU defensive back Kevin Garrett was selected in the fifth round of the 2003 NFL Draft Sunday by the St. Louis Rams. Garrett was the 37th pick of the round, and the 172nd pick overall for the two day draft.

Garrett, a four-year letterwinner for SMU, finished his SMU career in 2002 with 265 tackles (181 solos), 11 stops behind the line of scrimmage, seven interceptions, 36 pass deflections, four forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and six blocked kicks during his time with the Mustangs. Garrett started all 42 games he competed in for the Mustangs during his four-year career.
