DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU volleyball team swept conference foe Tulane on Friday 3-0 (30-28, 30-26, 30-27) at Moody Coliseum to improve their home record to 6-1 on the season. Rachel Giubilato paced the Mustangs (7-11, 3-3 C-USA) notching 14 kills and 13 digs for her league-leading 13th double-double.
Freshman Natalie Peters also recorded double-digit kills for SMU with 12 and only committed four errors on 23 swings to hit .348. Peters also added three blocks. Caitlin Rainbird had eight kills and 12 digs, while Stephanie Bennett tallied five kills and four digs.
Ashley Zener was also impressive up front for the Mustangs, hitting .545 with seven kills and one error on 11 attempts. Stefanie Kons led SMU in assists with 41 and added four kills and three blocks. Jennette Evanco chipped in with 12 digs.
The SMU Volleyball team returns to action Sunday, Oct. 16, when they host UTEP at 2 p.m. in Moody Coliseum. The match will have live stats available via Gametracker.
