DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU volleyball team continues to dominate its opponents at home, winning for the fifth straight time in Moody Coliseum on Friday night 3-2 (30-23, 25-30, 30-27, 25-30, 15-10) over UAB. The Mustangs (9-11, 5-3 C-USA) tied a team record with seven solo blocks and improved their overall record to 8-1 in home contests. Caitlin Rainbird and Rachel Giubilato paced SMU with 19 kills each and both recorded double-doubles. Rainbird finished with 19 kills, 16 digs and four blocks, while Giubilato totaled 19 kills, 20 digs, two blocks and an ace.
Natalie Peters was also strong for SMU tying her career-high with 17 kills and adding eight blocks and six digs. Jenny Reyes had an excellent night serving, tallying five service aces and also added 14 digs. Jennette Evanco led the team in digs with 28. Stefanie Kons notched the third double-double for the Mustangs, recording a career-high 56 assists and adding 10 digs.
Stephanie Bennett continued her string of solid performances, recording three kills and five blocks against the Blazers, while Ashley Zener chipped in with four kills and a block.
