HUNTINGTON, W.V. (SMU) - The SMU volleyball team fell to C-USA leader Marshall on Sunday 3-0 (30-25, 30-24, 30-15) at the Cam Henderson Center in Huntington, W.V. The loss snapped SMU's five-match winning streak. Freshman Natalie Peters led the Mustangs (11-12, 7-4 C-USA) with 15 kills and hit .345, to go along with four blocks.
Rachel Giubilato also posted a double-digit kill performance on the afternoon for SMU, recording 11 and added seven digs. Kelly Larkan notched three kills and six digs, while Stephanie Bennett also tallied three kills and led the Mustangs with five blocks in the loss. Stefanie Kons directed the offense with 31 assists and Jennette Evanco paced the Mustangs with 16 digs.
The SMU volleyball team returns to the court next weekend when it hosts Rice and Houston at Moody Coliseum. At the match with Rice on Friday, SMU volleyball will celebrate its 10th Anniversary and honor former Mustang great Erin Pryor. Sunday's match with Houston will be Senior Day. Come cheer on the Mustangs as seniors Kelly Larkan, Stephanie Bennett, and Ashley Zener will be honored following the match.
