The Mustang Maniacs is a student spirit organization founded in 1998. First called the Moody Maniacs, the group started as a branch of the Manada Wranglers. The name was changed to the Mustang Maniacs before the 1999-2000 basketball season.

The Mustang Maniacs enjoy seats behind the benches for every Mustang Basketball home game. There is a one-time sign-up fee of $5. Basically, once you sign up to be a Maniac, you are a member as long as you are an SMU student.
