DALLAS - The SMU Volleyball (4-1) team defeated the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles 3-1 (30-27, 30-14, 18-30, 30-20) on Friday in the SMU Invitational at Moody Coliseum.
The team recorded 17.5 blocks which is the third highest in school history. Ashley Zener led the way with a career-high tying ten blocks. Kelly Larkan had seven and Natalie Peters stopped six attacks.
Caitlin Rainbird had another solid game for the Mustangs, notching her third career double-double with 12 kills and 14 digs to go along with four service aces. Rachel Giubilato posted her second double-double of the day totaling 18 kills and 10 digs while hitting .220.
Junior libero Jennette Evanco led SMU with 20 digs, while Madison Hill contributed a double-double tallying 40 assists and 10 digs with two service aces. Larkan had 11 digs to help the Mustang cause.
The SMU volleyball team returns to action at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, when they host Texas Tech in the final match of the 2005 SMU Invitational.
