DALLAS (AP) --Paul McCoy scored 15 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead SMU to a 92-52 victory over Texas A&M International on Friday night. Five other players scored in double figures for SMU (3-3). Bamba Fall scored 14 points, Alex Malone and Papa Dia scored 12 and Derek Williams and Justin Haynes each scored 11 for the Mustangs.
SMU out-hustled the Dustdevils (2-5) with a 28-16 edge for points in the paint. The Mustangs also got 30 points from 20 Dustdevil turnovers in the game.
The Mustangs improved to 3-1 in four home games with the 40-point win. It is the largest margin for SMU since an 89-46 victory against Savannah State on Dec. 19, 2005. The Mustangs also had a season-high 21 assists against just 12 turnovers. McCoy hit 6-of-8 field goals and Fall hit 5-of-8 as SMU shot 60.7 percent for the game. The Ponies hit a scorching 74.1 percent in the second half on 20-of-27. McCoy and Haynes each hit 3-of-4 from three-point range.
The Mustangs also won the rebounding battle 40-30 with Fall matching McCoy's game-high of six rebounds.
Derek Barnes and Sean Tucker were the high scorers for Texas A&M International with nine points a piece. Tucker made four out of nine shots for the night and Barnes was a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line.
SMU led 19-18 with 6:11 left in the first half, then used a 13-2 run to grab a 12-point edge. The Mustangs led by double-digits the rest of the way. After leading 39-25 at the break, SMU started the second-half with an 11-0 stretch and went on to outscore the Dustdevils 53-27 after halftime.
