Wayzata, Minn. (SMU) - The SMU Mustangs pulled away from the field in the final round of the Gopher Invite on Monday, Sept. 14, and cruised to a 10-stroke win. SMU carded a team score of 280 over the final 18 to finish at 9-under 855 for 54 holes at the par-72, 7,020-yard, Tom Fazio-designed Spring Hill Golf Club and better runner-up Arkansas (+1/865) by 10 shots.
Leading the way for SMU was junior Kelly Kraft, who broke the course record with an 8-under 64 on Monday. He finished at 15-under 201 to take medalist honors. He was one of three Mustangs in the top 12, as Marc Sambol's 1-over 217 had him 11th and Matt Schovee's 2-over 218 tied him for 12th.
The tournament field featured 12 teams from 10 different collegiate conferences.
