Equestrian Finishes Regular Season With Close Game Against Tennessee-Martin

MARTIN, Tenn., - The SMU equestrian team lost its last competition of the regular season Friday, 6-4 to Tennessee-Martin. The team finishes the season at 3-7 on the year.

Claire Wenholz went 2-0 on the day, winning both her fences and flat matchups. She scored an 82 in the flat and a 78 in the fences, in her first fences competition of the year.

Kristen Collins and Danielle Gersh also posted victories for the Mustangs. Collins won with a 75 in the fences, while Gersh improved to 5-1 on the year in the flat, with a score of 74.

The Mustangs will learn their postseason fate on Monday when the Varsity Equestrian National Championship selections are announced. Last year SMU received the No. 11 seed in the Hunt Seat division and faced Oklahoma State in the first round.
