DALLAS (SMU) - SMU quarterback J.J. McDermott has been named the Rivals.com C-USA Player Of The Week. McDermott was 23-of-45 for 349 yards and four touchdowns in SMU's 40-33 win over 20th-ranked TCU on Saturday, Oct. 1.

SMU is off to a 4-1 start for the first time since going 5-1 to begin the 1986 season, and this week's victory was the first road win over a ranked opponent since topping then-No. 13 Baylor in Waco on Oct. 11, 1986. With the win, McDermott improves to 4-0 as a starter.
