DENTON, Texas (AP) -- Reggie Pegram rushed 21 times for 81 yards and a touchdown, and Jarrian Roberts had a 31-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown to lead North Texas to a 43-6 win over SMU.
Pegram's and Roberts' scores came in a 20-point second quarter for the Mean Green (1-1) that included two short field goals by Trevor Moore.
Kolney Cassel threw for 134 yards on 11-of-21 passing and one touchdown to lead SMU. Wideout Der'rikk Thompson caught 6 passes for 74 yards, while Nate Halverson recorded four grabs for 65 yards and a touchdown reception as the fourth quarter came to a close.
The Mustangs are back in action Saturday, Sept. 20 when they host Texas A&M at Gerald J. Ford Stadium. Kickoff is still TBA.
