ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Nic Moore scored 21 points, hitting 5 of 9 beyond the arc, and SMU defeated Central Florida 70-61 on Sunday.
SMU (12-4, 3-1 American) scored first and never trailed. A 7-0 spurt midway through the first -- including Moore's 3-pointer- turned a two-point game into an 18-9 SMU advantage. UCF scored the last six points of the half and trailed 30-26 at intermission.
Moore drilled a pair of 3-pointers on consecutive possessions at the start of the second to push the lead to 10 points and UCF (8-7, 1-3) never got closer than seven the rest of the way.
SMU shot 57 percent, made 6 of 14 3-point attempts and had 19 assists.
UCF was paced by three players with 11 points: Brandon Goodwin, B.J. Taylor and Adonys Henriquez.
The Mustangs travel north for their next game when they take on Temple in Philadelphia, Pa. on Wednesday, Jan. 14. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. CT. The game will be televised on CBS Sports Network.
