AUSTIN, Texas (SMU) – Freshman
Kenzie Wright fired a nearly unblemished third round carding 1-under 71 on the final day to lead the No. 20 SMU women's golf team at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational. Wright's three-round 3-under 213 placed her fourth on the individual leaderboard, while the Mustangs finished sixth as a team.
The top-five finish was the first of the Mustang freshman's career and second top-10 finish after placing eighth at the Mason Rudolph Championship Sept. 18. She also ranked third amongst individuals with 12 birdies finishing just one shy of her season-high set at the Mason Rudolph.

Jeanne Sutherland said. "Lindsey [McCurdy] also played great golf all weekend and [Alex] Celli and Ana Paula [Ramirez] looked good and are getting better every day."
Senior
Lindsey McCurdy came in at eighth place, giving her two top-10 finishes this season as well. McCurdy's second-round 69 featured six birdies giving her 11 and putting her at 31 for the season.
No. 15 Kent State won the tournament at 2-under 862 after shooting 4-under in round three, while No. 9 Miami finished a stroke behind at 1-under 863. No. 14 Texas (+2) rounded out the top there team finishers. Miami's Dewi Weber picked up medalist honors at 15-under 201.
SMU's second round was its best of the event, firing a 289 and trailing only Miami in that frame. It was the third lowest round for the Mustangs this season.
"I think we were trying to be great and play perfect in the first round," Sutherland stated. "We loosened up and realized it wasn't about being perfect, and learned from the first round to adjust and play from our position. We really dug hard and played well to get ourselves back into it in round two."
"Everyone has things to work on from the top to the bottom of the lineup," Sutherland concluded. "Overall, we have lots of possibilities with our lineups which makes qualifying tough."
