DALLAS (SMU) – The SMU women's basketball team scored a season-high 77 points in a 77-43 win against Seattle in Moody Coliseum Wednesday. With the win, SMU improved to 9-4 overall, 6-0 at home to go undefeated in non-conference games at Moody Coliseum for the first time since the 2004-05 season.
Dai'ja Thomas scored a team-high 13 points, and was one of five Mustangs to reach double-figures.
Alicia Froling recorded her eighth double-double of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds. She now ranks third in SMU career double-doubles with 27, surpassing Karlin Kennedy (1997-2000).
SMU went on a 12-0 run to start the game, as Seattle didn't score its first basket until the 5:32 mark. The Mustangs' defense sparked the offensive surge.
Morgan Bolton and
McKenzie Adams forced back-to-back steals at half court in the fifth minute of the period and converted two fast-break layups, putting SMU up by a dozen. The Mustangs shot 77.8 percent (7-for-9) from the field in the first period, but Seattle fought back to cut the lead to six at the end of the first quarter, 19-13.
With the lead still six, 31-25, at halftime, SMU went on a 16-4 run to open the third quarter, stretching its advantage to 18 points, 47-29, with five minutes remaining in the period.
Stephanie Collins anchored the offensive run, scoring seven points in five minutes for the Mustangs as SMU ended the quarter leading 57-35.
The Mustangs outscored Seattle 46-18 in the second half and led by as many as 37 points in the fourth quarter to secure the ninth victory of the season and remain unbeaten at home this season. Adams finished with 12 points, while

Klara Bradshaw added 10 apiece, giving SMU five players in double figures for the first time this season.
The victory marks the first time SMU has beaten three consecutive opponents by at least 20 points since the 1999-2000 season and the first time SMU has beaten an opponent by 30+ points since Dec. 4, 2013, when the Mustangs beat Southeastern Louisiana by 43 points, 82-39.
The Mustangs begin American Athletic Conference play in Moody Coliseum on Dec. 31 against Cincinnati at 1 p.m.
