AUSTIN, Texas (USA RUGBY/SMU) -SMU football alumnus Aaron "Spike" Davis has been called up to the USA Men's Eagles rugby team in preparation for the Americans Rugby Championship match, USA Rugby announced this week. Davis and two other call-ups arrived in Houston on Tuesday. The Eagles are in Austin, Texas, today in preparation for Saturday's match against Canada at Dell Diamond.

Davis was a four-year letterman on the Hilltop (2009-12), seeing time at defensive tackle and on special teams. The Elsinore, California, native saw action in 52 games in the red and blue, accumulating 82 total tackles with nine for loss. After his SMU career, Davis participated in mini camps with the Green Bay Packers and the Washington Redskins before transitioning to rugby.

Davis currently trains with Tiger Rugby, the USA Rugby National Development Academy, in Columbus, Ohio. He was called into Men's Eagles Sevens High Performance Camps in Chula Vista, Calif., before most recently touring with the USA Falcons on the 2016 South American Tour.
