FORT WORTH, Texas (SMU) – Redshirt sophomore Vanessa Valadez led the Mustangs with five shots and three on goal, but the effort fell short as the SMU women's soccer team fell 1-0 in double overtime at [RV] TCU Sunday night.

In a virtually level match between two even teams, TCU's Allison Ganter found the game-winner in the 109th minute to claim the victory. Each team logged six shots on goal, while TCU managed just two more shots (19-17) overall.

Including Valadez, nine Mustangs recorded shots, with four putting shots on frame. Goalkeeper Catie Brown went the distance, recording five saves.

SMU opens conference play Thursday, squaring off at No. 17 USF, before heading to Orlando, Fla., to take on UCF on Sunday. Game times are slated for 6 p.m. ET/5 CT and 12 p.m.
