DALLAS (SMU) – Three Mustangs advanced to the finals in their respective draws in singles play on day two of Metroplex Mania Saturday at the SMU Tennis Complex.
Anzhelika Shapovalova moved on to the No. 1 singles final after defeating Georgia State's Kristen Rehse, 6-3, 7-5.
Ana Perez-Lopez picked up her second win of the tournament with a 6-2 victory against ULM's Karolina Snita in No. 2 singles. In No. 4 singles,
Nicole Petchey tallied her fourth victory of the season with a 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 win against Arizona's Sophia Thomas.
In doubles play, Lopez paired up with
Sarai Monarrez Yesaki to win the No. 1 consolation final, 6-3, against Georgia State's Rehse and Elizabet Danailova. Shapovalova and
Karina Traxler claimed third place after a 6-3 victory against Georgia State's Damira Muminovic and Daniela Ramirez.
Metroplex Mania will conclude Sunday at 11 a.m. with the final round of singles play.
