DALLAS (SMU) – The SMU volleyball team swept UCF (25-21, 25-19, 25-15) in Moody Coliseum Sunday afternoon, improving to 6-0 in the American Athletic Conference and 12-5 overall.

Meryn Kennedy scored 10 kills each to lead the SMU offense in the win.
UCF took a 4-2 lead to start the third set, leading early in all three sets, but the Mustangs scored four straight to take a 7-6 lead and never trailed again. SMU went on a 5-0 run to take an 18-10 lead, all but ending the match. The Knights (9-9, 2-4 The American) managed just five more points before 
Lauren Mills blasted her seventh kill of the match on match point.
Brittany Adams led the SMU defense with 11 of 44 digs. The Mustangs had eight blocks as a team, with Brunstein accounting for five. SMU hit .277 as a team with 41 kills, while holding UCF to a .181 attack percentage with 36 kills.
The Mustangs overcame a four-point deficit midway through the first set, coming back to take a 1-0 lead with a 25-21 win against the Knights. Trailing 16-13, 
Julia DiBona went to the service line after a UCF service error. The Mustangs got a block and two kills to keep the freshman on the line, tying the score, 16-16, before UCF scored to win the serve and keep the lead. Another UCF service error and a kill from Mills gave SMU its first lead of the set, 18-17. SMU never trailed again, outscoring UCF 7-4 down the stretch for the win.
SMU took a 2-0 lead in the match with a 25-19 win in the second set. UCF scored three of the first four points, but the Mustangs scored three unanswered for a 4-3 lead. UCF recaptured the lead, 6-5, but the Mustangs scored on kills by Brunstrein and Adams for a 7-6 lead. SMU never trailed again. With a one point lead, 10-9, SMU went on a 4-1 run to take a 14-10 lead that was never in danger of being taken away.
The win sets up a battle of conference unbeatens Friday night in Wichita, Kan., as SMU plays at No. 24 Wichita State (14-3, 6-0 The American). The road trip ends Sunday at Memphis.
