HOUSTON (SMU) – Two Mustangs recorded victories in singles play Sunday on the final day of the Rice Invitational.

Nicole Petchey notched her second win of the tournament with a 6-1, 5-7, 7-6 (1) decision against Fabienne Gettwart (Sam Houston State) to win the Flight 4 consolation final. Anzhelika Shapovalova also picked up her second victory of the tournament with a 4-6, 7-6 (5), 11-9 win against Alabama's Luca Fabian.

Up next, SMU will split time between an International Team Federation (ITF) event from Sept. 25-Oct.1 in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and the Cal Nike Fall Invitational from Sept. 29-Oct. 1 in Berkeley, California.
