DALLAS (SMU) – The Mustangs swept singles play against Georgia State on day three of Metroplex Mania on Sunday, adding five wins to SMU's weekend total.
SMU now holds 16 total victories at Metroplex Mania.
Sarai Monarrez Yesaki earned the Mustangs first point of the day with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Anastasia Grosheva of GSU.
Ana Perez-Lopez and
Nicole Petchey also added wins in straight sets, with Perez-Lopez defeating Damira Muminovic, 6-1, 6-2, and Petchey defeating Lara Vovk, 6-2, 6-3.
Liza Buss battled No. 108 ranked Kristin Rehse to a third set, ultimately winning 6-3, 2-6, 6-2.
Karina Traxler played a close match against GSU's Daniela Ramirez. After winning the first set 6-1, she dropped set two, 4-6. Traxler fought back in set three to win the match 6-1, 4-6, 7-6.
SMU returns to the court tomorrow for the final day of Metroplex Mania. The Mustangs will take on BYU in doubles play, and UNT will play BYU in singles.
