DALLAS (SMU) – The SMU women's swimming and diving team fell to No. 1 Texas A&M on Tuesday evening at the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center and Barr-McMillion Natatorium.
Andrea Podmanikova,
Erin Trahan and
Matea Samardzic each earned a pair of runner-up finishes in their respective disciplines to pace the Mustangs against the top-ranked Aggies.
Podmanikova, who won her first two races as a Mustang in SMU's dual with No. 10 Mizzou on Friday, continued to lead the team in breaststroke events. The freshman dropped time in both distances from her first meet to place second, posting an NCAA provisional standard in the 200 distance at 2:15.66.
Butterfly specialist Trahan and backstroker Samardzic were both narrowly out-touched for the win in the 100 distance of their events, coming in less than a half of a second behind their Aggie counterparts.
In relay action, SMU placed third in both the 400-yard medley relay and 200-yard freestyle relay.
Felicity Passon also had a podium finish at third in the 100-yard freestyle.
On the boards,
Kara Bradley posted a season-bests on 1 (217.43) and 3 (226.28) meter to lead the Ponies.
SMU fell by a final score of 173-113.
Select Mustangs are back in action Jan. 11-14 at the Arena Pro Swim Series Austin, while the team returns to the pool Feb. 2 when North Texas visits The Nat. Check SMUMustangs.com for ways to follow.
