BOX SCORE

DALLAS (SMU)
 – The Mustangs fell at home for the first time this season with a 3-2 loss on Thursday at the hands of Tulsa.

The meeting between the Mustangs and Golden Hurricane was back-and-forth all night as both teams held leads only to squander them later on.

Midway through the first period, Tulsa struck first thanks to a goal from the team's leading scorer, Mia Darden.

Five minutes later, the Mustangs answered. Celiana Torres earned a PK after a challenge near goal prompting Vanessa Valadez to take the PK. The senior stayed perfect  from the penalty spot (8-for-8) in her Mustang career as she pushed one past the keeper.

SMU went in front less than 10 minutes later on Allie Thornton's eighth goal of the season. Thornton received a pass from Sebazco and was able to slide one in despite a tough angle. Katina Tsapos was also credited with an assist on the goal.

A four-minute stretch in the second half proved to be the difference in the game as Tulsa was able to tie the contest and then promptly take the lead. Averee Dubach had the tying goal with an assist from Anna Williams. Anna Brandenburg scored the game-winner in the 57th minute off a free kick from Alyssa Kaiser.

The Mustangs pushed for the tying goal in the final thirty minutes but couldn't find the tally they needed. SMU finished ahead of Tulsa in the offensive categories, outshooting Tulsa 24-11 and taking five corners while conceding one. The 12 Mustang shots-on-goal was a season-high.

The Mustangs fall to 8-4-1 on the season and 3-2 in conference play. Tulsa improves to 6-5-1 and 2-1 in the conference.

Next up, the Mustangs play their final regular season game at Westcott Field when No. 18 Memphis heads to Dallas on Sunday at 1 p.m. After the game, the four Mustang seniors, Haley Thompson, Catie Brown, Blair Thorpe and Vanessa Valadez, will be honored on the field.
