DALLAS (SMU) – SMU women's basketball dropped a 77-61 decision to Oklahoma in non-conference action inside Moody Coliseum Saturday afternoon.
Senior forward
Alicia Froling led the Mustangs with 12 points and nine rebounds, one board shy of her eighth double-double of the season. Freshman guard
Kayla White added 11 points for her fifth consecutive double-digit scoring performance.
SMU (6-6) held tight with the Sooners (4-7) in the second half, outscoring them 23-22 in the third quarter, but could not overcome Oklahoma's hot shooting night. The Sooners shot efficiently, knocking down 54.9 percent of their field goals, including seven of their 14 3-pointers.
Sophomore guard
Ariana Whitfield dished a team-high six assists to go with eight points, while freshman guard
Amber Bacon had a game-high three steals.
After scoring 24 points in the first half, SMU scored 23 points in the third quarter behind nine points from freshman forward
Brishonne Tollie off the bench.
The Mustangs return to action in a week when they host UTA on Saturday, Dec. 29 to close out the non-conference season. Tipoff from Moody Coliseum is scheduled for 7 p.m.
