Mustangs Fall At ECU

Klara Bradshaw Logs Double-Double With 10 Points And 11 Rebounds

Box Score | Season Stats

GREENVILLE, N.C. (SMU) – SMU was unable to complete the season sweep against ECU, falling on the road to the Pirates, 76-47, on Saturday evening.

Senior Klara Bradshaw led SMU by posting her first double-double as a Mustang, scoring 10 points and securing 11 rebounds. The 11 rebounds tied a career-high for Bradshaw. The senior also sent back three shots and was a perfect 4-for-4 from the field.

Freshman Johnasia Cash led the team in scoring by tying a career-high with 11 points while also grabbing six rebounds.

SMU led for more than 10 minutes of the contest in the first half, but turnovers began to mount and became too much to overcome. The Mustangs finished with 34 turnovers which led to 32 points for ECU. SMU forced the Pirates into 18 turnovers, themselves, but those turnovers only led to four points for the Mustangs.

ECU's 22 steals played a big role in the Pirates attempting 27 more shots than the Mustangs. SMU tried to reverse some of the momentum with 3-pointers, but those would not fall on Saturday. Just one of SMU's 13 attempts from 3-point range were successful.

SMU won the first contest between the two teams by getting to the free-throw line often. The Mustangs did a good job of that again on a difficult shooting night, but SMU only made 57 percent of their 28 free ones.

The Mustangs will look to bounce back when they return home to host Tulsa on Wednesday, February 7. SMU is 7-4 this season at Moody Coliseum.
