A pair of SMU freshman punched home early goals as the Mustangs went on to draw TCU, 2-2, Sunday night at Garvey-Rosenthal Stadium.
Just as she did the last time out against Rice, Courtney Sebazco found the back of net as everyone was getting settled, this time with a 7th minute goal from long distance. Katina Tsapos had the assist on the score.
The Mustangs made it 2-0 in the 20th minute when newcomer Celiana Torres collected a loose ball in the box and buried her first collegiate goal. The two quick scores came against a TCU defense that hadn't allowed a single goal in any of its first three games.
TCU would answer right back six minutes later, knocking home a score after a melee in the box.
In the second half, the Mustangs were able to hold off the TCU attack until, with 17 minutes remaining, a free ball in the goal area fell into the hands of the Horned Frogs as they scored from close range.
Keeper Catie Brown came up big with key saves to keep the game even and headed to overtime.
Both teams created their fair share of opportunities in the overtime but ultimately 110 minutes was not enough to decide a winner between the two rivals and the game ended in a tie.
TCU out-shot the Mustangs, 20-8. Brown accounted for eight saves in goal to TCU's three. SMU moves to 2-1-1 on the season while TCU's record sits at 3-0-1
Next up, the Mustangs return to Westcott Field for a two-game homestand starting on Sunday with a 7 p.m. meeting with Houston Baptist and concluding the following Sunday against FIU.
