SMU won 81-73 versus Georgetown on Dec. 15 at Capital One Arena. That evening, the team did a bus tour of the National Mall, stopping at the Lincoln Memorial. On Dec. 16, the Mustangs toured the U.S. Capitol with Congressman Pete Sessions, and then went to the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture.

LAST GAME (W, 82-54 vs East Carolina on Jan. 2): DALLAS (AP) -- Jahmal McMurray had 20 points and four assists and SMU blew past East Carolina 82-54 in an American Athletic Conference opener on Wednesday night. Jimmy Whitt Jr. scored 17 points, Isiaha Mike and Nat Dixon added 11 points each and Ethan Chargois chipped in 10 as the Mustangs (9-4) improved to 7-0 when at least four players score in double digits. McMurray had his third 20-plus game of the season. Jayden Gardner led ECU (7-6) with 16 points and seven rebounds, and Tyler Foster added 11 points. The Mustangs took the lead for good on a 3-pointer by McMurray with 7:02 remaining in the first half and SMU led 35-25 at halftime. SMU doubled its lead in the first two minutes of the second half with McMurray contributing seven points in a 10-0 run. The lead reached 30 points midway through the second half and the Mustangs cruised to their seventh win in the past eight games.

THE SERIES VS. TULANE (21-14): SMU is 14-2 at home, and has not lost in Moody Coliseum to Tulane since Dec. 7, 1991. The Mustangs fell 73-70 at Tulane on Jan. 4, snapping a five-game winning streak against the Green Wave. SMU is 6-12 all-time at Tulane. The first meeting between the programs came on Dec. 18, 1959, an 86-61 victory for SMU.

LAST SEASON VS. TULANE: (W 73-62 on Jan. 20 at SMU) DALLAS (SMU) - Shake Milton stayed aggressive and was the go-to guy down the stretch for the Mustangs, scoring 18 of his 20 points over the final 13 minutes as SMU knocked off Tulane, 73-62. Jahmal McMurray also played a large role in SMU (14-6, 4-3) not letting another game against Tulane (12-7, 3-4) slip away in the second half. The junior scored 10 of his 13 points in the second half. Over the final 20 minutes, McMurray didn't miss a shot while knocking down four of his five free throws. Milton and McMurray combined to score SMU's final 21 points.  Sophomore Jimmy Whitt provided a spark on both ends of the floor and was a big reason SMU was in a position for Milton and McMurray to take over late. Whitt scored 18 on incredibly efficient 9-for-14 shooting. Defensively, the Columbia, Missouri, native registered a steal on four straight Tulane possessions in the first half that energized the team and Moody Coliseum in the first half while also cutting into the Green Wave's early lead. Senior Ben Emelogu rounded out SMU's double-digit scorers, dropping in 11 points while also grabbing a game-high nine rebounds. After withstanding Tulane's hot shooting in the first half, SMU built an eight-point lead through the midway part of the second half. Similar to the matchup earlier this season in New Orleans, Tulane mounted a second-half rally to take the lead at 55-54 with 5:42 to play. This time though, SMU wasn't letting another one slip away against the Green Wave. The Mustangs closed the game on a 19-7 run for the 11-point victory. The Mustangs were able to get the win despite Tulane having a much more effective night from behind-the-arc. SMU made up for it by having its best night of the season from the free throw line (17-of-20) and forcing Tulane into 14 turnovers compared to the Mustangs' six. (L 73-70 at Tulane on Jan. 4, 2018): NEW ORLEANS (SMU) - In their first conference game of the season away from Moody Coliseum, the Mustangs were unable to slow down a hot-shooting Green Wave squad in the second half, falling 73-70. Junior Shake Milton continued his stellar play, scoring a game-high 24 points while also contributing six rebounds. Milton shot 64 percent and was a perfect 3-for-3 from behind the arc. Fellow junior Jarrey Foster also logged a strong game, dropping 16 points on 50 percent shooting while grabbing a team-high seven rebounds. SMU led by as many as 12 in the second half, but Tulane caught fire offensively to erase that deficit, especially from 3-point range. The Green Wave shot 59 percent from the floor in the final 20 minutes, including hitting 6-of-12 from behind the arc. That came after hitting just one 3-pointer in the first half. Free throws also played a big role in Tulane's comeback win against the Mustangs. The Green Wave finished a nearly flawless 18-of-20 from the charity stripe. In the closing moments, Tulane hit 5-of-6 free throws to keep SMU from ever having a real opportunity with the ball down just one possession. The one miss of the second half came with just .3 seconds remaining, and SMU's desperation heave was off the mark. The loss snapped an 18-game winning streak against American Athletic Conference opponents for the Mustangs. It also snapped a six-game winning streak on the road in conference games. It was just the second time this season SMU allowed 70 points or more. Due to an illness, standout freshman Ethan Chargois did not play.

UP NEXT: The Mustangs play on the road again at Connecticut on Thursday with a home game against Tulsa on Saturday, Jan. 12 at 5 p.m. That starts a stretch of three out of four at home. SMU hosts Houston on Wednesday, Jan. 16 and the return game with Tulane on Jan. 26 with a matchup at Memphis in between on Jan. 19.

JUST ONE: Jarrey Foster is the only scholarship member of the Mustangs that has played at SMU for more than one season. SMU is one of 12 teams with one or less entering a third season.

SENIOR LEADER: SMU is 73-17 in games with Jarrey Foster on the floor, including a 50-3 record in games at Moody Coliseum.
