DALLAS (SMU) - Kayla White scored 21 as the Mustangs fell to Wright State, 69-61, on Friday night at Moody Coliseum.
 
The Mustangs (3-4) chipped a 15-point deficit down to four in the closing minutes of the game, but ultimately dropped the contest. Kayla White dropped 21 points, one off her season high with 15 points coming in the second half. Johnasia Cash recorded her third double-double of the season behind a monster second half that saw the junior bring in nine rebounds and score 12 points. Cash set a new career high with four blocks.  
 
Wright State (4-3) controlled the game early with a 20-15 lead after one quarter and extended the lead to 10 at the half. Amber Bacon led the Mustangs with a 10-point half, knocking down 4-of-5 from the line.

The Raiders extended the lead as far as 15 before SMU went on an 8-0 run to close out the third quarter. Kayla White and Johnasia Cash combined for 15 points on the court to lead the Mustang comeback. SMU assisted on seven of eight buckets in the period. The game was close heading down the stretch before the Raiders were able to pull away.
 
Four Mustangs scored in double figures in the contest. Along with Kayla White and Cash, BriShonne Tollie and Amber Bacon both eclipsed 10 points. The Mustangs limited the eighth-best offensive rebounding team in the country to seven under their season average. The Ponies out-rebounded the Raiders in the contest. SMU assisted on 17 of 25 made buckets.
