BOX SCORE SEASON STATS

TULSA, Okla. (SMU) – The Mustangs dropped a road contest against the Tulsa Golden Hurricane, 49-35, Wednesday night inside the Reynolds Center.

The first quarter set the pace for the low-scoring contest as Tulsa was up 10-7 after the game's first 10 minutes. The SMU defense held Tulsa scoreless for a stretch of 5:32 near the middle of the second that allowed them to stay in the game. The Golden Hurricane countered with their own defensive stand, not allowing an SMU bucket for 5:45. The home team took a five-point lead into the halftime locker room.

The lead remained five heading into the final period after both teams posted 10 points in the third. A scoreless stretch of four minutes hurt the Mustangs chances as Tulsa was able to extend their lead. After a 17-3 run, Tulsa led by 19. The Mustangs were able to cut into the lead during the game's final minutes to cap the final deficit at 14.
