DALLAS (SMU) -- SMU football gameday is back at Gerald J. Ford Stadium Saturday against North Texas at 6 p.m. SMU Athletics is again offering fans plenty of options for food and fun in Gerald J. Ford Stadium and on the Boulevard this season.
In addition to the home-opening match-up against the Mean Green, SMU hosts Texas State in non-conference action before welcoming AAC foe Tulsa to town for Family Weekend Oct. 5. Temple visits Ford Stadium Oct. 9, while ECU comes to town for Homecoming on Nov. 9. The regular-season home slate closes on Nov. 30 with Senior Day against Tulane.
Fans can purchase season tickets for as low as $79, while group tickets, mini-plans and single-game options are available as well. Call 214-SMU-GAME (768-4263) or visit SMUMustangs.com/tickets to purchase yours today.
The Official Mobile App of the SMU Mustangs serves as a one-stop shop for video, scores and news, and allows fans to link their SMU Tickets and Ticketmaster accounts for easy access on gameday via mobile tickets. The free mobile app is available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play.
The Mustang Club tailgate has moved inside the brand new Indoor Performance Center, which features the Armstrong Fieldhouse, at the intersection of Bishop Boulevard and Binkley Avenue. The tailgate is reserved for donors at the Red & Blue level and above ($75 and above).
Armstrong Fieldhouse will also be open to football season ticket holders and their guests, who will be given wristbands based on the quantity of season tickets purchased. Armstrong Fieldhouse will be open three hours before kickoff and will close 30 minutes prior to kickoff. As always, food vendors and food trucks will be available along Binkley Avenue and accept cash or credit card.
In stadium, SMU will again offer value concessions pricing at Stands 127 & 207. Highlights of this value menu include $3 hot dogs, nachos and pretzels, $2 sodas and waters and $5 16 oz. beers. Higher-end food and beverage options are available at other stands and food trucks in and around the stadium.
In-game production scripts have also been reimagined and rewritten with the goal of firing up the crowd and reducing the number of sponsorship reads. Music will remain a mix of the Mustang Band and a high-energy DJ.
Responding to student requests, the student section and the Mustang Band have been relocated to the southeast corner of Ford Stadium adjacent to the lawn in 2018. Traditional bench seating has been removed from some of the student sections, allowing students to move about freely, and student orgs will be able to sit together in-stadium. The southeast corner of Ford has also been converted to serve students with tents, an outdoor suite, picnic tables, games and TVs.
A clear bag policy will again be enforced at Ford Stadium. As at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, the only permitted bags are those made of clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC which do not exceed 12 x 6 x 12 inches, one-gallon clear plastic freezer bags (Ziploc or similar) or small clutch bags (approximately the size of a hand), with or without a handle or strap. All bags except those approved under the clear bag policy are prohibited. Additionally, all fans will also be subject to security wanding or metal detectors prior to entering the stadium.
SMU strives to provide our guests with an exceptional experience, from the moment that fans leave for the game to the time they return home. To that end, SMU has created a transportation and parking plan designed to keep the traffic moving, make it easy to park and ensure the safety of fans as they make their way into the stadium.
