SMU Hosts Tulane on Saturday at 7 p.m. This is the first of three home games in a four-game stretch. The Mustangs just split a two-game road swing, winning 74-70 at then-No. 20 Memphis on Saturday before falling 65-43 at Cincinnati on Tuesday.
 
The Mustangs are 11-1 at home this season, including 4-0 at Moody Coliseum in American Athletic Conference play.
 
The Mustangs are receiving votes in the Associated Press Top 25 poll this week. That is the first appearance in the AP listing since Dec. 2.  
 
SMU enters the game leading the conference in field goal percentage (45.7%), free-throw percentage (76.4, 28th NCAA), assists (16.4, 18th NCAA), assist-to-turnover ratio (1.2, 34th NCAA) and threes made (8.2). The Mustangs have three of the top 10 scorers in the AAC; Kendric Davis (15.2, 5th), Tyson Jolly (14.6, 8th) and Isiaha Mike (14.4, 9th). Davis is also leading the league in assists (6.8, 10th NCAA) and assist-to-turnover ratio (2.7, 19th NCAA). Davis is second in the league in free-throw percentage at 88.0% with Mike third at 87.2%. SMU is second in the AAC in rebound margin (6.4, 29th NCAA) with three players in the top 10 (Hunt 7.1, 7th; Mike 6.9, 8th; Jolly 6.7, 10th).
 
On Monday, Kendric Davis was named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the third time, all in the past four weeks. He averaged 17.5 points, 7.0 assists and 4.0 rebounds while shooting 52.4%. In the win at then-No. 20 Memphis, he had 20 points and 5 assists. That was following a 15 points and 9 assist in the victory over ECU.

This is the first time SMU has had at least five guys record a double-double since 2016-17. The SMU record is 7 different players in 1978-79. Six players accomplished it in 1977-78 and 1997-98. (Houston is the only other AAC team that has five different players with double-doubles this season.)

• SMU was among those receiving votes in the AP Poll on Jan. 27. That is the second time this season (Dec. 2). The Mustangs have been in the AP Poll in six of the past seven seasons.
 
• The 74-70 win at [20/20] Memphis on Jan. 25 was the 11th win under Tim Jankovich over a team ranked or receiving votes, and the second this season (won at [rv/rv] Evansville). It was the sixth over ranked team, the first since the 83-78 victory at [7/4] Wichita State on Jan. 17, 2018.
 
• SMU has 6 wins against AP Top 25 teams under Tim Jankovich (16 games). That is second at SMU. Doc Hayes had 13 from 1947-67.
 
•  SMU has won two American Athletic Conference Championships (2015 & 2017).
 
•  SMU has had three players selected in the NBA Draft since 2017.Sterling Brown and Semi Ojeleye in 2017 and Shake Milton in 2018. Jahmal McMurray was selected in the 2019 NBA G-League Draft. Ben Moore is playing for the Fort Wayne G-League affiliate of the Indiana Pacers.
 
• The Mustangs have had 12 All-American Athletic Conference honorees in the six seasons ot the league, including four first-team selections. • SMU Football went 10-2 in the regular season (10-3 overall), and was one of 21 FBS teams with at least 10 regular-season wins. SMU Men's Basketball started 8-0, and was one of the final 14 remaining undefeated teams. SMU and Ohio State were the only FBS programs with at least 10 wins in football that started at least 8-0 start in men's basketball.

FINDING THE RANGE: Isiaha Mike is third in The American in 3-point percentage (41.4%, 46-111) and third in free-throw percentage (87.2%, 41-47). His 2.3 threes made per game are tied for the lead in the AAC. He is now 39.5% from three in his time at SMU, which ranks 11th in program history.
 
STEPPING UP TO THE MIKE: Isiaha Mike has hit two of the biggest shots for the Mustangs this season (both on assists from Kendric Davis). Mike hit the tying three with 19 second left at Vanderbilt as SMU rallied from 15 down to eventually win 92-81 in overtime. At [20/20] Memphis, Mike scored 8 of the final 15 points including the three that gave the Mustangs the lead with 1:48 to play. The Mustangs closed on a 15-0 run in the 74-70 road win.
 
MOSTLY FREE: SMU is hitting 76.4% at the free-throw line this season (1st AAC, 28th NCAA). Two rank in the top three of the league: Kendric Davis (88.0%, 2nd), Isiaha Mike (87.2%, 3rd), .
 
HUNTING FOR REBOUNDS: Feron Hunt is averaging 7.1 rebounds (7th AAC) with 2.3 offensive rebounds (11th AAC). He had a season-high 13 rebounds vs New Orleans. He has 7 or more rebounds in 30 career games, including 11 of 19 this season (10+ 5 times this season). Hunt shared the team lead in rebounding at 6.4 per game as a freshman last season. He was just the sixth Mustang to lead the team as a freshman.
 
FIVE AND DIME: At Cincinnati, Kendric Davis has his streak snapped of 5 or more assists in 14 straight games. That was the longest streak of games with at least 5 assists since the SMU record of 16 in a row by Butch Moore from 3/14/85 to 1/8/86. Davis' average of 6.8 assists leads the AAC (10th NCAA). It would be sixth in a season at SMU, and the most since Butch Moore (7.7) in 1985-86.
 
KENDRIC 20-20: Kendric Davis is 66-75 at the FT line this season (88.0%, 2nd AAC, 23rd NCAA). He made 40 of his first 41, hitting 20 before his first miss, then 20 more before his second miss. He was 11-14 in the game against UCF on Jan. 8, setting the SMU record for attempts in an AAC game and tying the record for makes in an AAC contest. He is 28-36 in 7 AAC games.
 
SCORING 20-20: In the win over UCF on Jan.8, the Mustangs had two 20-point scorers as Kendric Davis had 22 and Feron Hunt had 20 (career high). That was the second straight game with a pair of 20-point performances. In the comeback 92-81 overtime win at Vanderbilt, Davis scored 24 and Tyson Jolly had 21. That marks the first time for two 20-point scorers in consecutive games since 2015-16 against Nicholls 12/16/15 (W, 86-42; Ben Moore 22, Shake Milton 20) and Hampton 12/17/15 (W, 105-72; Sterling Brown 23, Jordan Tolbert 20).
 
LAST GAME (L, 65-43 at Cincinnati on Jan. 28): CINCINNATI (AP) -- Jarron Cumberland scored a season-high 28 points Tuesday night, and Cincinnati led the whole way during a 65-43 victory over SMU, its seventh straight win over the Mustangs. The Bearcats (13-7, 6-2 American Athletic) have won five of six with Cumberland leading the way. He had 15 points in the first half, when Cincinnati led by as many as 17 points. Cumberland finished 9 of 13 from the field, and had team highs with nine rebounds and four assists. SMU (15-5, 5-3) had a three-game winning streak snapped. Tyson Jolly had 16 points for the Mustangs, who were coming off a 74-70 win at then-No. 20 Memphis on Saturday. The Mustangs missed 10 of their first 11 shots as Cincinnati pulled ahead 16-3 and was never seriously threatened. He was the catalyst again as the Bearcats took control. The Mustangs trailed 33-19 at halftime, their fewest points in an opening half this season, and shot only 24 percent from the field. Cumberland scored nine consecutive points for Cincinnati, including a pair of steals and layups. The Bearcats pushed the lead to 24 points midway through the second half. The Mustangs have overcome double-digit deficits to win games this season, but their poor shooting prevented a comeback. They came into the game leading the AAC in field goal percentage at 46.6%. SMU couldn't handle Cincinnati's tight defense and shot a season-low 25.9% from the field while scoring a season low in points.
 
THE SERIES VS. TULANE (23-14): SMU is 16-2 at home, and has not lost in Moody Coliseum to Tulane since Dec. 7, 1991. The Mustangs have won 8 of 9 meetings in the American Athletic Conference. The first meeting between the programs came on Dec. 18, 1959, an 86-61 victory for SMU.
 
LAST SEASON VS TULANE (W, 85-75 at SMU on Jan. 26, 2019): DALLAS (AP) -- Jahmal McMurray and Isiaha Mike combined to score 49 points and SMU beat Tulane, 85-75 on Saturday night. The Mustangs swept the season series with the Green Wave. Tulane never led in the first meeting in New Orleans, but the Green Wave held a 35-32 advantage at the break in Dallas after Kevin Zhang hit a 3 at the buzzer and was up by five, 53-48 with 11:09 to play. Nat Dixon hit a 3 to tie it at 54-54 and spark a 9-0 run that put the Mustangs up, but Tulane came back to tie at 60-60 with under seven minutes to go. McMurray hit two free throws and Dixon added two more to put the Mustangs in front for good. McMurray hit 5 of 9 from distance and finished with 29 points to lead SMU. Mike hit all five of his 3-point attempts and added 20 points. Jordan Cornish had 17 points, eight rebounds and eight assists for Tulane. (W, 65-74 at Tulane on Jan. 4, 2019) NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- Jahmal McMurray scored 25 points and SMU never trailed in winning its fourth straight and eighth of the last nine with a 74-65 victory over Tulane on Friday night. McMurray was 5 of 9 from 3-point range and 9 of 15 overall. Ethan Chargois added 14 points and Jimmy Whitt Jr. had 11 points and 11 rebounds for his second career double-double. On Nov. 29, 2018, Whitt had SMU's first triple-double since 1999. The Mustangs led 61-45 on Chargois' jumper with 7:57 left in the game. Tulane had a 14-4 run that included seven points in a 21-second span to get the deficit down to six. But Chargois answered with a 3-pointer with 2:11 left and the Mustangs held on. SMU opened the game on an 8-0 run and led 35-25 at the break. The Mustangs had a 9-0 run early in the second half to take their largest lead at 46-28. Samir Sehic had 20 points and 15 rebounds, Jordan Cornish added 17 points and Caleb Daniels scored 14 for Tulane.
 
UP NEXT: The Mustangs play at Temple on Feb. 8 before two straight home games against Connecticut (Feb. 12) and Houston (Feb. 15).
 
HEAD COACH TIM JANKOVICH... is in his fourth  season at the helm at SMU after four seasons as the associate head coach. He is in his 37th season as a collegiate coach, and his 15th as a head coach. As a head 6oach, he is 243-164 (.597) [86-43 at SMU (.667), including 59-14 (.808) at Moody Coliseum (started 36-0, second best in NCAA history)]. That includes a 104-64 mark at ISU where his teams recorded four top-three finishes in the Missouri Valley, reached the conference tournament final three times and earned four NIT bids. As an assistant or head coach, his teams are 628-375 (.626) with six regular season conference championships, four league tournament titles, nine NCAA Tournament appearances and eight NIT bids. This is his 12th season as the leader of a Division I program, including five as head coach at Illinois State (2007-12) and four at North Texas (1993-97). The 2017-18 Mustangs started 13-6 with three wins over ranked opponents, topping No. 2 Arizona in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament, No. 14 USC at Moody Coliseum and No. 7 Wichita State on the road. In 2016-17, SMU finished 30-5 and No. 11 in the AP poll after winning The American regular season and tournament titles en route to the NCAA Tournament. In 2015-16, he coached the Mustangs to a 9-0 start as SMU was eventually the last unbeaten team in the country at 18-0, and winning the Las Vegas Classic title during the season-opening streak. The Mustangs went 25-5, finishing the season ranked No. 24 after reaching a high of No. 8. In 2014-15, the Mustangs claimed the AAC regular season and tournament championships en route to the NCAA Tournament. SMU was the top seed in the 2014 NIT, reaching the title game.

INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE FOR THE MUSTANGS (Current Roster): In the past few seasons, several Mustangs have played in international events or gone on international tours. Additionally, 2-time AAC Player of the Year and All-American Nic Moore helped Team USA win the gold medal at the 2015 World University Games in South Korea.
2018: Isiaha Mike went to Italy with USA East Coast. William Douglas, Ethan Chargois and Feron Hunt went to Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands with Global Sports Academy.

CALL IT A COMEBACK: SMU rallied from 15 points down (72-57 at 6:28) to win 92-81 in overtime at Vanderbilt on January 4. That ties for the seventh largest comeback in program history and the ties for the largest under Head Coach Tim Jankovich (80-75 win vs Tulane 2/15/17). SMU closed regulation at Vanderbilt on a 20-5 run to tie the game at 77-all. The Mustangs then had a 15-4 advantage in overtime. SMU still trailed by 10 with less than five minutes left, getting the deficit to 8 points on two Emmanuel Bandoumel free throws with 4:04 remaining. That makes it one of 30 NCAA D-I comebacks from 10 or more in the final 5 minutes. The Mustangs still trailed by 6 in the final minute when Tyson Jolly hit a 3 with 28 seconds left to cut it to 77-74. Kendric Davis stole the inbounds pass and tried to score on a layup. Davis missed and then got the offensive rebounds, passing to Isiaha Mike outside the top of the key where Mike hit the tying three with 19 seconds remaining to get the game into overtime.
 
CALL IT A COMEBACK - PART 2: SMU rallied from 11 points down (23-12 at 6:03 1st half) to win 68-52 against Temple on January 18. Tyson Jolly had a career-high 25 points, with 22 points in the second half. He also had a career-high 14 rebounds with 2 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks. It was the seventh time under Head Coach Tim Jankovich that the Mustangs allied from a double-digit deficit to win.
 
CALL IT A COMEBACK - PART 3: SMU trailed by 12 points at No. 20/20 Memphis (68-56 with 7:08 left), before closing the gap and winning 74-70. The Mustangs closed on a 15-0 run over the final 5:32 en route to the road win. Kendric Davis had 20 points and 5 assists, hitting 3 free throws in the final minute. Isiaha Mike had 13 points, all in the second half, including 8 in the final 15-0 run.
 
TROPHY CASE: Since the start of the 2013-14 season, the Mustangs have added seven items to the trophy case. SMU won the 2014-15 and 2016-17 American Athletic Conference regular season and tournament titles. SMU has also won 2019-20 Southwestern Showdown and the 2015-16 Las Vegas Classic. In 2013-14, SMU was the runner-up in the NIT.
