Mustangs Close Regular Season With Win Over Memphis

DALLAS (SMU) – SMU women's basketball defeated Memphis, 69-60, to close out the regular season on Monday night inside Moody Coliseum.  
 
SMU moves on to the American Athletic Conference Tournament as the No. 6 seed. Memphis and SMU will meet again on Friday at 8 ET/ 7 CT in the first round at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.
 
Johnasia Cash broke out for her 11th double-double of the season. Cash finished with 16 points and 13 rebounds. The junior also chipped in a career high six steals as she took control of the defensive end.
 
Reagan Bradley poured in 14 during the victory with four assists and rebounds apiece. The freshman moved into the SMU single-season top-10 with her 126th assist of the campaign. Bradley added three to the Mustangs' 13 total steals. Bradley did damage from downtown, finishing at a 4-for-6 clip from three.
 
Amber Bacon shared the team lead with Cash thanks to a 16-point night. Bacon tied her career high with seven assists in the contest. Altogether, Bacon scored or assisted on 31 of the Mustangs 69 points.
 
SMU (13-15, 7-9 AAC) was lights out from three in the first half, knocking down 6-of-11. Bradley contributed 4-of-5 to that total with 14 total points in the half. The Mustangs took the lead  early and never relinquished. They held an 18-point edge at the half.
 
Memphis (13-16, 4-12 AAC) was kept at bay in the third quarter, only able to dwindle the lead to 16 heading to the final frame. The Tigers attempted a late-game rally cutting the lead to nine with a little over a minute to play, but the Mustangs iced it with strong defense and few buckets.
 
The Mustangs connected on a season-high seven three-pointers on the night hitting over 40%. The 18 SMU assists tied for the most by the Mustangs in AAC play.
 
SMU finishes the regular season in the top half of the league standings at No. 6. The Mustangs finish with a 10-7 record inside Moody Coliseum and a 7-9 mark in the conference.
